Your nanny will learn: The Montessori approach to child development and how children learn through their senses. How to observe children to understand their interests and needs. How to set up simple sensory and transfer activities using recycled or natural materials (pouring, scooping, sorting). How to introduce one activity at a time and support concentration. How to adapt play to different developmental stages.
Practice: Present and guide sensory play and transfer activities.
Your nanny will learn: How to foster independence through daily routines like dressing, cleaning, and preparing snacks. Practical life skills that build self-confidence and responsibility. How to plan play activities that develop fine-motor skills How to support early language, math, and problem-solving skills through daily play. Mahlet is an experienced pre-school teacher in a Montessori kindergarten in Addis Abeba. She also worked for many years as Nanny herself with children between 0 and 6 years old.
She is passionate about Montessori and play-based learning and has been leading our teacher training in Addis.
Mahlet will facilitate the training onsite in close cooperation with Maria who will supervise the coaching and virtual training part.
While nannies love this course, it is designed for anyone working with children aged 0–6. Grandmas and moms attend to learn how to set up their homes, and daycare owners use it to train their teaching assistants.
The course will be done in Amharic. Some of the materials are also in English. If you only understand English, please reach out and we will adapt the course for you.
Yes, upon the successful completion of the course and the weekly quiz, all participants receive a certificate of completion.
No. Our method is highly practical. We welcome participants of all educational backgrounds; the only requirement is a passion for working with children.
Yes, if the training is taking place during your work hours, younger children can attend the training. We make sure to include them in the practical activities to make it more fun for everyone.
The training has been designed to fit the busy schedule of many nannies and families. It can easily be done in parallel to work. Including the training sessions, we anticipate a time commitment of 2-4 hours a week. Most practical activities can be done together with the children during your work hours.
